Artist's Comments

One of my many human characters, Elijah Braintree. I have his entire lifespan mapped out- this portrait is towards the latter portion of his life, when the majority of his 'story' takes place. Think upwards of 100 years or so. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think he was a pretty attractive fellow.

Trying out a bit of a different style this time, obviously. Definitely a learning experience, I'll say that much. I used a photo reference for the face, which I glanced at during the presketches and preceeded to promptly ignore.

Oh wow, I really like the look of this. Dark and gritty, yes <3
:iconatomicfiction:
Thanks! Although I'm kind of worried that the "wiseman/sage" look was inadvertantly obscured to be more like "that crazy homeless guy in the park" XD

Oh my, now that you mention it I can see that too XD. But it turned out great. Really. I love the messy messy hair.

That eye...is made of epic.

Glowing eyes are cliche, but still oh so fun, aha. And the hair is actually pretty close to what mine looked like when it was longer... I get a crazy-ass 'fro especially in the humidity XD

When I saw the title for this in my Deviantwatch, I was expecting Matrix fanart. Nothing wrong with your picture though.

At first glance, you'd think I'm British.

this is cool, and a lot different from your other stuff. The beard and hair are great, they've got a nice wild look to them. I love the textured, mottled look to his skin, but I think a man who is 100+ years old would have more wrinkles on his face, particularly on his forehead.

Damn now this is different! Makes a very nice change to see this stuff. :)
